The alternator transforms mechanical energy into electrical energy. It sends power to essential parts of your vehicle like the headlights, the engine fan, ignition coils and various parts of the fuel injection system. It is important to have your alternator regularly checked.
The electrical systems of today’s cars are complex. Your starter motor is crucial to your cars performance. A faulty starter motor will mean your vehicle will not start leaving you stranded and possibly having to pay to get your car towed to a service center. The starter uses the electricity from the battery to start the crankshaft turning and that gets your car going.
The battery is the backbone of your vehicle’s electrical system. It supplies power to the starter and ignition system. You should have your battery and its connection checked regularly. We supply and fit new car batteries to all vehicles, motorcycles, caravans, commercial vehicles and marine craft.

An immobilizer or immobilizer is an electronic device fitted to an automobile which prevents the engine from running unless the correct key (or other token) is present. This prevents the car from being “hotwired” after entry has been achieved. The microcircuit inside the key is activated by a small electromagnetic field which induces current to flow inside the key body, which in turn broadcasts a unique binary code which is read by the automobile’s ECU. Add-on immobilizers are available for older cars or vehicles without factory immobilizers. Statistics in South Africa have shown that 3 out of 4 vehicle thefts are older cars stolen for joyriding, transport or to commit another crime. In many instances, where a vehicle fitted with an immobilizer has been stolen, the thief had access to the original key. Only around 1 in 4 stolen vehicles are stolen by professional thieves. The majority of vehicles are stolen by opportunistic thieves relying on finding older vehicles that have ineffective security or none at all. Car thieves have to move quickly and a good immobilizer looks like too much hard work to disarm so they move on. When you consider how much you depend on your car and the trauma you’d go through if it was stolen. It’s worth investing in a good immobilizer and that’s where we can help, just ask us.
